We truly love the fact that a scent can make a memory come alive! For us, some our favorite aromas come from nature. Fresh lavender fields, salt in the air at the beach and fresh white flowers are some of of favorite things! But we were transported to the islands of Hawaii when we first smelled kai fragrance and we have been hooked ever since!

We want to share one of our favorite fragrances with you all so that you too can smell like a walking vacation! It’s called kai!

It is hands down THE BEST bottled smell you will ever find!! Keep reading to find out why we love it so much and how you can get your hands on some for free!!!

I first learned of kai on a trip four years ago to San Diego. I was down there for the boat races and stumbled into the spa in my hotel. The first thing I noticed was the smell of plumerias! It was everywhere!

A plumeria is a flower that is indigenous to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and as far south as Brazil. But are grown as cosmopolitan ornamentals in warm regions. They are all over Hawaii and is basically what the islands smell like!

I couldn’t leave without knowing what was giving off such an intoxicating smell!

The store clerk told me it was the kai candle she was burning and introduced me to an aroma that I would quickly fall madly in love with…

The owner of kai is Gaye Straza. She spent her youth vacationing in the tropics. After years of avoiding mainstream perfumes because they did not agree with her, Straza decided to create a scent for herself that embodied the exotic white flowers she loved.

For several months she worked tirelessly with a small boutique fragrance house to develop what we now know as kai fragrance.

The first time Straza wore kai, she was stopped mid-stride by a beauty editor on Madison Avenue in New York City, asking where she could buy the scent. this was a foreshadowing of events to come.

kai took on a life of its own. there was so much demand for the fragrance that Straza sold her boutique in 1999 to develop the line, launching kai as its own company.

Today, kai is sold at exclusive boutiques and spas all over the world.

With many devotees including Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Naomi Watts…To name a few..

Why we love kai

One thing that really draws us to kai, other than its light, fresh, beautiful smell is that it’s

paraben, sulfate, phthalate, phosphate & gluten free, microbead free and  cruelty free.

They also use recyclable packaging, and it’s made in the u.s.a.

Locally in Malibu!

Another reason is their philosophy that beauty lies in the simplest and purest of things. kai brings this idea to life by using exotic fragrance and natural essences in their light and intoxicating scent.

All the goodies

We literally use every item they have! The reed diffuser is right by the front door so when we walk in we are welcomed right away by this gorgeous aroma. The deodorant is the first aluminum free one I have found that actually works! The linen spray is an obsession at this point…

We wash our clothes with their home line detergent, our hair with the shampoo and conditioner…

Which, by the way… makes my hair sooo freaking soft and for some reason it doesn’t get oily again for like three days!!!

And we are legit burning their candle as we write this!

It’s safe to say that we love all the kai products but what we are really excited about is the body buffer! They discontinued it for awhile and I nearly had a heart attack! But we’re happy to announce that

the buffer is back!!!!
