The Big Day – May 25th 2019 – Our Love Party
Wedding season is finally upon us and we cordially write this blog as Mr. and Mrs. Silva! ahhhhh I cant even believe I just wrote that!! Wow, where to begin? Let’s start by saying how has it been one whole month already!?
We know, people always say “Time fly’s when you’re having fun” but that’s an understatement in this regard! I mean, it really does feel like just yesterday we were setting up the backyard for the big day! To be fair though, we are having A LOT of fun!
Now, we aren’t going to get into all the details of how we picked out our color palette or style motif in this particular blog – Don’t you worry though, that blog is coming like winter is coming for Jon Snow-
But we wanted to give you a sneak peek at the pictures we haven’t yet shared on our social media!
We cant keep them to ourselves any longer!
Keep Reading for some of our most intimate and favorite moments shared during our wedding.
Before the Big Day
Our wedding day was absolutely perfect in every way! Now, we attribute that to being engaged for over a year… but the point is we had ample time to plan accordingly and dream up the most beautiful love party possible!
We hand picked out everything from the vases on the tables (multiple trips to goodwill) to the stunning handmade farm tables themselves that made the whole backyard picture perfect!
Keep it small
We wanted to have a very intimate, small, backyard wedding. When you are getting married a lot of OTHER PEOPLE have opinions about what YOUR DAY should look like; and sometimes that includes the guest list. I for one have been to countless weddings where the bride and groom barely get to see all the guests. We set out to create an atmosphere of LOVE where we could connect with the closest people to us. Our guest list ended up being 40.
Invites
Since our guest list was small, we could splurge on the details. We had our invites handmade in calligraphy by a friend.
We got that little engraved ring box on Etsy
Planning 101
Not gonna lie, when you start planning it’s intimidating. But fear not! There are so many useful websites out there now to help you with not only your registry; but you can build a wedding website, build your guest list, send out save the dates, check off a pre made to-do list, seating charts, budgets and a lot of other things you didn’t know you needed until now.
We used Zola! It was absolutely a life saver! Highly Recco!
Why We Hired a Wedding Coordinator
Although I didn’t experience a lot of stress during the whole planning process I can see how it can become very stressful. Things right around the 30 day mark started to become a little overwhelming to juggle with a full time job and working with client / setting up photo shoots. We initially thought of just hiring a “day-of-coordinator” but we were on the fence… “Maybe me and the bridesmaids can handle it, its just 40 people after all…” That was an actual thought of mine! HA!!
We found Modern Rebel…or should we say they found us! Chelsea from Modern Rebel reached out through our Insta and we connected right away! Not only was she exactly what we were manifesting, but Modern Rebel has a mission statement we can get behind!
Modern Rebel
Modern Rebel is an alternative event planning company in NYC + Los Angeles that helps couples rewrite the rules of their weddings by emphasizing authenticity, fun, and the health of their partnership in the planning process.
AND they give back to local non-profits through each and every event so the love extends far past the dance floor.
Our wedding donated to the Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Center.
Turn up the volume for this one, We could NOT have made this day possible without the help from our friends at Modern Rebel! Chelsea made the day 100% seamless. We had multiple conversations where she listen to exactly what we wanted and did everything in her power to execute that to a T!!! She took over communicating with the vendors 30 days before and made sure nothing fell through the cracks with the most thorough timeline you will ever see! We met the week of the wedding three times. Once for coffee and finishing touches to the schedule, a walk through with vendors and then the rehearsal. She anticipated things we didn’t know we needed and her suggestions were very much appreciated. Above all else she was genuine, honest, transparent, supportive and full of love the whole time. She didn’t feel like a coordinator but more like a friend getting shit handled!

The Reception
We decided that we wanted farm style tables to tie the whole party together. We found Joie Jane on craigslist of all places. He and his wife made these tables by hand for their wedding and now they rent them out!
Otis & Pearl
Otis and Pearl Vintage Rentals offers one-of-a-kind vintage china, vintage glassware, tabletop + decor rentals for weddings & events.
We rented their White + Gold collection dinner plates. A classic mix of elegant white dishes with simple gold touches, Gold rimmed goblets and their vintage clear pressed glass water goblets! It gave the tables such an elegant touch.
PrimeRose Los Angeles Florals
We have worked with Primrose several times on stylized shoots and absolutely adore them. We knew right away we wanted them to do our wedding when we met in Big Bear for the first time.
Porty The Foto Bus
When we were looking for photo booths for the wedding and came across Porty @portythefotoboothbus we knew that we had to start the ride of our lives in the back seat of this baby!
In a very serendipitous coincidence this bus also traveled all the way from Brazil just like Leo!
Our First Dance
Father Daughter Dance
Mother Son Dance
And then we danced the night away
But really…we came for the cake.
