WE ARE OFFICIALLY INDIE AUTHORS 📚 whaaaaaaat!?! • We are SO excited to share something with you that we have been working on as a little quarantine passion project the last few weeks! // After staying up until 2 AM on countless nights, learning 4 new Adobe programs and jumping all to the hurdles of self publishing— WE WROTE, CREATED, EDITED, DESIGNED AND SELF PUBLISHED A CHILDREN’S BOOK IN ENGLISH AND PORTUGUESE THAT IS LIVE and AVAILABLE TODAY! • A few weeks ago we were on the phone with our friend who told us his daughter had been crying because she didn’t understand why they needed to stay home… Which made us start thinking about our nephews. So we called over to see how Jaxon was doing and gauge what he knew about what’s happening in the world right now. He was very candid with us and basically told us – “all I knows is I can’t go outside because of the corona virus….” And that he “really missed playing with Papa” • This made us realize..In the mist of the confusion and chaos we are facing as adults; imagine how little kids must feel!? We decided we wanted to make something for kids that normalizes social distancing. We also wanted to make sure to empower them by explaining that – By staying home, you are helping to stop the spread, and in turn that saves lives— like a superhero! And then, “Stay Home Superheroes” was born! • I know when I was a kid it was easier to understand a situation if I could relate to a character in a book going through something similar! This book has a duel purpose though, it’s also intended to support parents who are having a hard time explaining the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing to their small children who may be struggling! • And in the vein of always trying to be of service, we are happy to also be donating 10% of the net profits of this book to The Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles – to help our fellow Angelenos and support our local community here in LA.. • It honestly feels surreal that we had a random idea and it’s ready for kids to read and enjoy TODAY! • GIVEAWAY Do you have a kid in your life that would enjoy this book? TAG THEIR PARENT! We would love to GIFT them the book! We will be choosing 5 winners FRI

Stay Home Superheroes – A Kid’s Guide to Social Distancing

A few weeks ago we were on the phone with our friend who told us his daughter had been crying because she didn’t understand why they needed to stay home… Which made us start thinking about our nephews. We have a nephew out here in LA, Jaxon, and two in brazil, Matheus and Davi that are very young.

So we called over to see how Jaxon was doing and gauge what he knew about what’s happening in the world right now. He was very candid with us and basically told us “All I knows is I can’t go outside because of the corona virus….”And that he “really missed playing with Papa”

This made us realize..In the mist of the confusion and chaos we are facing as adults; imagine how little kids must feel!? Since the pandemic, children all over the world are having to stay at home. We as adults have the capability to watch the news, and digest media in all sorts of ways and we are still unsure how to explain something we are struggling to comprehend ourselves. So we decided we wanted to make something for kids that helps to normalizes social distancing and give them something to relate to.

Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future

Written and created by a married couple living in Los Angeles, Callie and Leonardo Silva, this beautiful story empowers children to understand what is happening and the important, powerful role they can play.

We really wanted to make sure to empower them by explaining that – By staying home, you are helping to stop the spread, and in turn that saves lives— like a superhero! And just like that, “Stay Home Superheroes” was born!

We love to read and when we were kids it was way easier to understand a situation if I could relate to a character in a book going through something similar!

Stay Home, Save Lives

This story is about a little boy named Jax. His life has been flipped upside down due to the pandemic and he is having a hard time understanding all the new changes. His mom tries to teach him patience through explaining how they all can be superheroes by staying home and not spreading the virus.

This book is intended to support kids and help them to cope with the changes happening around them. It was also created for parents who are having a hard time explaining the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing to their small children who are struggling with the new situation.

Let’s Stay Home and Save the World! – Your local friendly Sweatpant Superheros 🦸🏼‍♀️🦸🏻 . . . We are sure this is a phrase you are hearing everyday! And quite honestly we thought that most us received this message early in the week and responded well… but the influx of people out and about this last weekend was appalling! It’s one thing to go on a hike, and we definitely encourage going out for air and exercise but to see Venice Beach packed and Runyon Canyon MORE packed than usual was disheartening. Despite dire warnings about the exponential growth of COVID-19 cases people continue to carry on with life as usual —filling the beaches and hiking trails as if we are all on vacation. It honestly comes down to the difference between being selfish and being egocentric… Selfishness is being concerned with one’s own outcomes and disregarding others’. A selfish person might think, “I only care about my own health, and I’m in a low-risk group. I’m not going to abide by social distancing to protect the health of others because I don’t care about them.” — which is not how most people think…The vast majority of the people who are defying calls for social distancing are not doing so because they don’t care about other people. Rather, they are doing so because they don’t realize the influence their actions will have on others. They are trapped in their own heads, looking out at what is going on in the world around them, and failing to recognize their own role in it. —PLEASE! 1 person can give it to 10> 10 give it to 100 > 100 give it to a 1000! Please be smart! We are all in this together and the singular mentality needs to evolve. In the past your ancestors were called upon to fight in war, to risk their lives on the front lines to save others and all your being asked to do is sit on your couch. — If you are not a health care professional fighting this fight STAY HOME! Remember we are not only alone together, but together alone!

The Angeleno Campaign provides direct and immediate financial assistance for individuals and families experiencing extreme financial hardship caused by a job loss, severe reduction of work hours, or furloughs. This includes low-wage hourly workers who had jobs in homes and restaurants, seasonal workers, and other precarious workers such as day laborers, street vendors, or self-employed individuals who are facing extreme economic hardship because of COVID-19. Every dollar donated through this fund will go to Angelenos in need – $1,500 per month will keep a family of 6 from falling into crisis.
