About Us
Believe it or not there ARE LA natives who still live IN LA! I should know, because I’m one of them! AND I know it’s rare nowadays because I’m treated like a magical unicorn when I meet LA transplants.
I (Callie) was born November 20th 1987 at Tarzana hospital. Yes, I’m a “Valley Girl”. Let’s get all your questions out of the way.
No, I don’t say:
- Totally
- As if
- Duh
- Or gag me with a spoon
Yes, to this day I still drive down Ventura Blvd singing free fallin’ as if Tom Petty wrote it just for me and Of course I have seen Encino Man, Clueless and The Karate Kid… like 100 times!
I have always been what you would consider a “California girl”. Growing up my days were filled with laying at Zuma beach, tower four, from sun up to sunset. My first yoga move was child’s pose; under my desk, in a class room during an earthquake drill and Mexican food has been a dietary staple since I was old enough to eat solid food.
Now that I am a grown up (debatable) I find myself discovering new reasons to love this city even more! I can be at the beach in Malibu and at the mountains in Big Bear all in the same day. I can pretty much eat In-N-Out anytime I want and we undeniably have the best weather under the sun.
Currently, I’m a TV producer, an avid animal advocate; a vegan and a yoga addict. The only thing to make me more LA is if I were to spark up a joint and start a blog…
Remember those LA transplants Callie mentioned? Well, here I am!
As a matter of fact, I’m not even from America. I was born and raised in Brazil, where soccer is number one and churrasco (Brazilian BBQ) is a close second.
I (Leo) was born November 13th 1986 in São Paulo, Brazil. I have a twin brother, a thick accent, I’ve been to carnival 21 times and I DO know how to dance Samba! I miss my friends and family a lot but it is safe to say that Los Angeles California has become my home.
Let’s backtrack a little. I came from Brazil to the US almost 10 years ago. I first moved to the outskirts of Washington DC where I went to Prince George’s Community College.
— Side note that’s where Ginuwine went! Jump on it—
College was a challenging time because it was my first contact with the American culture. However, it was a very exciting time where I got to master the English language (no one said anything about its pronunciation lol) and grow as an international person.
After two and a half years of being the captain of PGCC’s Men’s Soccer team; leading the team to finish 5th in the nation AND getting my associates in accounting as an Honor student. I transferred to Florida Memorial University in South FL. Where I received my bachelors in business with summa cum laude honors and I was the scholar of my senior year. Woo Woo
After school, I felt a change in the air. I moved to Los Angeles in the beginning of 2013 and it changed my life forever! It hasn’t been an easy ride but there is something inspirational about this city that just doesn’t allow you to give up on yourself. The beautiful LA scenery that includes amazing hikes, snowy mountains, gleaming oceans and great weather all year round have just captured me. Oh, and did I mention I met the woman of my dreams…
Our love story begins in August of 2015. We were both fairly fresh out of long term relationships and needless to say not looking to jump back into anything serious, let alone fall in love. A mutual friend kept insisting to the both of us that we needed to meet because we were so much alike. Well, I (Callie), kept saying no because if he was as amazing as she was making him seem I wanted him to stay as far away from this newly single girl as possible. That is until she sent me a picture of him…
(I know some of you are gonna say that’s shallow…. BUT… have you SEEN him?!!? lol)
We eventually exchanged numbers and started texting right away as if we knew each other forever. We planned a date and spoke everyday up until we finally met. Since one of us is an LA native, Callie planned the night. We went to dinner at The Roof on Wilshire and dancing at The Edison! Our second date was at The Magic Castle which pretty much sealed the deal.
(all of which are incredible LA staples & we will explore them in more detail for you in future Blogs).
We had an amazing time and without sounding corny as shit it was love at first sight. As a matter a fact, we have been together ever since we just celebrated our two-year anniversary!
In the past two years we have traveled all over this this beautiful country and South America. One of the things that we have in common is we love exploring and being as active as possible. Surfing, snowboarding, camping, hiking, climbing, paddle boarding, skydiving, you name it! We’re in! Our main goal is to travel the world together full time. But like most people in their early 30’s, we cant quite quit our day jobs just yet…
In the meantime we are constantly seeking new, exciting things to do in our very own backyard!
We recognize how lucky we are and that’s why we have decided to start this blog! We’re living in one of the best cities in the world. In the prime of our lives, in love and thriving. We want to bring as much of that joy we’re getting to experience to all of you! We hope our adventures, stories, reviews, and overall inside look into our life will inspire you to take a risk, be bold and travel the world thats just outside your door.
So follow us on this journey as we explore and share our beautiful city and adventures with all of you!
